FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q1: What do you offer?

A1:

I offer all the services necessary for creating and launching a website. I will design the website, create the graphics, host the website and register the clients desired domain name.

Q2: Do I need to supply anything?

A2:

Yes. The client will need to supply the content for the website. You won't need to format it in any way aslong as it is organised in a clear way for me to understand what the content is. It can be in a simple MS Word or Notepad document. As the site design progresses I will be in regular contact with you to make any changes you wish.

Q3: Will I get to see the site before it's finished?

A3:

Yes. Once the design process has started I will give you a temporary domain address for the site where you can go to keep track of the site and I am easily available via email, phone, MSN and various other contact methods.

Q4: What is a domain?

A4:

The domain is the address of the website (www.yoursite.co.uk). Try to keep it short and easy to remember :).

Q5: What is hosting?

A5:

Every website on the internet is stored in a space provided by a host. Some popular hosting solutions are 1and1.co.uk and godaddy.com. If you don't want to deal with 3rd party hosting I will host your site for a monthly fee.

Q6: How long does it take to design a website?

A6:

It depends largely on the project. But I aim for the design process to take no less than 2 weeks and no more than 5 weeks from conception to having the website ready to be put online.

Q7: Will you maintain my website once it's live?

A7:

Once your website is live it's more than likely that some maintenance will be required to keep the site up to date. Especially if the site does not have a CMS(Content Management System). From updating contact details and other information to wanting a new, entirely different look and feel. For most of these smaller changes/updates I will charge an hourly fee.

Q8: Do you offer any discounts?

A8:

Discounts are provided for non-profit organisations and schools at 30%.

Q9: How much does it cost?

A9:

The cost of designing a website depends largely on the type of project and the service a client requires.

  • Design
    • All projects are completely bespoke so prices vary depending on each client's individual requirements and budget. The Fee for the project is a fixed price agreed prior to the project starting. A 20% deposit will also be required in advance.

    • This website is a good example of a website that would take aproximately 2 weeks to complete and cost aproximately £400 for design, graphics, regular maintenance, hosting and domain registration.

  • Hosting and Domain Registration
    • The hosting fee is a fixed monthly fee of £5 per month paid in advance. This is an ideal solution for clients who wish to have their website on the web without having to deal with 3rd party web hosting companies and monthly subscription charges.

    • The cost of hiring a domain depends on whether it is a .com, .net, .co.uk, .org.uk etc. For .com (or similar) domains there will be an annual fee of £9 paid in advance. For .co.uk (or similar) it will be an annual fee of £5 paid in advance.

Once the cost of the project has been agreed 20% of the total cost must be paid in advance of work beginning. The following 80% of the total cost of the project must be paid before the website can be made live or delivered to the client.

Prefered methods of payment are paypal and postal cheque. Other methods of payment can be considered if necessary.
